IAMH2O recognizes water as a basic need and a basic human right.
However, there are currently over 1 billion people
in the world living without access to clean water.
Additionally, 2.6 billion people live without basic sanitation. These issues are being exacerbated by changes in rainfall patterns, increasing desertification, pollution of surface waters, mining of groundwater, and human conflict—resulting in nothing short of a global water crisis.
The UN estimates that by 2025, nearly 2 billion people will be living in conditions of absolute water scarcity, while two-thirds of the global population will face water stress. (SOURCE: UN Fact Sheet on Global Water Scarcity).
IAMH2O is focused on combating the global water crisis on two fronts:
(1) Working to establish sustainable projects in global communities that are most highly impacted by water scarcity and;
(2) Working locally to raise awareness of worldwide water security issues.
